Invitation for African Union Member States

The Secretariat of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights presents its compliments to the Ministries of Foreign/External Affairs of AU Member States and has the honour to invite Member States to participate at the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights; which will take place in Banjul, The Gambia, from 11th to 25th May 2006 at the Kairaba Beach Hotel.

The Secretariat would like to be informed as soon as possible of the composition of State delegations and their expected dates of arrival and departure in order to facilitate assistance upon their arrival. The Preliminary Registration Form which is herewith attached, should be completed and returned to the Secretariat by 18th April 2006.

Travel and accommodation expenses will be borne by Member States. All information relating to hotels available in Banjul are found in the Information Note to participants posted on the African Commission’s Website: www.achpr.org . The Draft Agenda of the Session is also available on the Website.

Delegates from non-ECOWAS countries are required to obtain visas before arriving in The Gambia. Those who do not have diplomatic representation of The Gambia in their countries will be issued visas upon arrival at the Banjul International Airport, provided they present their invitation to the Session. It is advised that delegates take the necessary vaccinations and travel with their vaccination cards.
